NOW HIRING: ice cream maker

The responsibility of an Ice Cream Maker at Summer's is to make Toronto's BEST Homemade Ice Cream. Our ice cream is the heart and soul of our business, so the right candidate will have a passion for creating and producing the recipes we've used for 36 years - all of our products are made without compromise.

Primary Responsibilities

​

  • Makes ice cream, frozen yogurts and sorbets according to Summer’s proprietary recipe guides
     

  • Ensures freezer inventory is replenished daily and is at full capacity by end of shift each Friday during Peak Season
     

  • Responsible for timely ordering of ingredients, cream and yogurt
     

  • Consistently maintains a sterile production environment and clean work area to specifications that would easily surpass the requirements of a Public Health inspection
     

  • Prepares soft serve product
     

  • Additional duties as assigned
    ​

  • Provides support to front-of-house as required
     

  • Maintains excellent working relationships with fellow team members

Qualifications

  • Culinary experience working in a fast-paced food service environment
     

  • Follows directions and instructions (recipes) to a "t"
     

  • Current Food Handler's Certificate
     

  • Exhibits pride in workmanship, values cleanliness
     

  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
     

  • Ability to work independently. A self starter.
     

  • Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks at one time
     

  • Highly organized, energetic, team oriented individual with a positive
    “can–do” attitude
     

  • Physical aspects of the job include; repetitive oversize merchandise handling and lifting, moving inventory and restocking, general cleaning and maintenance, and standing for up to 8 hours per day
     

  • Store is open 7 days per week, daytime and evening hours; individual will need to work nights, weekends, extended hours and/or holidays
